How to Cleanse Yourself and Others:
You can then use the smoke to cleanse yourself or the aura of a person by holding it close to and around the body, allowing the smoke to surround. Another great technique is to move the sage stick in an outwards motion from the body, to draw the energies out and away. Be sure to include the palms of hands, the chakra, the back, legs, and soles of feet as well, as they are all places that store energy that may be stagnant or need clearing. The most important part of the ritual is your intention - Hold the intention that you are purifying the person of any negative energies or emotions that don't serve them or aren't of the highest good. Remember to thank the sage for helping to cleanse and purify, and send it your love and appreciation.
How to Cleanse a Room: When smudging/cleansing a room, simply walk around the room allowing the smoke to flow. You can move the sage stick/ palo santo in clockwise circular motions or you can even do the cross symbol - whatever holds a pure meaning to you.
